Site: Auburn Ave  Atlanta, GA ​ Ode iii: listen for the clearing is a performative collaboration between Nneka Kai, Quentin Harris, and Tiffany Smith. They activated the site of Auburn Ave, a street in the GreenBook, and the resident of Nneka Kai for the first eight years of her childhood. An at once thriving safe space for Black people in the segregated South, now a heavily gentrified space, seeming neglected by the larger city of Atlanta. This space still houses - the Royal Peacock, one of the city's oldest dance clubs, and the Atlanta Daily World, Atlanta's first black-owned newspaper. We come to this space to heal and care, to dialogue with the past . With a chain, bell, and straw broom, we call attention to those who exist prior, now, and in the future
